Some members of a special RCMP team have arrived in northern Saskatchewan.
Police will be assessing the situation near the spot in Peter Pond Lake, where a plane that went missing nearly 60 years ago was found.
The wreckage of a Cessna float plane was discovered last month on the bottom of the lake in about 16 kilometres of water.
Mounties originally said a dive to the wreckage was too risky, but later decided to examine the area to see if it could be done safely.
An RCMP spokesperson said a number of pieces of equipment would have to be brought to the area and a command post set up.
Mounties will try to put an ROV in the water to determine things like the exact location of the wreckage, visibility, vegetation in the area and the nature of the lake bottom.
