The La Ronge Ice Wolves dropped their first pre-season game of the year on Tuesday at the Mel Hegland Uniplex 7-2 to the visiting Flin Flon Bombers.
“We just wanted to see what they could do. Flin Flon had a little bit more of an experienced roster, so it is what it is,” said Ice Wolves Assistant Coach Gaelan Patterson. “It’s not all about the score right now. We’re just looking at what we got. Overall, I don’t think we were unhappy with the boys.”
Tyler Johnson and Nico Hemming did the scoring for La Ronge. La Ronge product Alex Bell and Carson Schewaga both saw time in net for the Ice Wolves.
“I felt great,” said Alex Bell, who got the start for La Ronge. “It’s a big jump from midget to Junior A, but I felt confident — I felt comfortable.”
The Ice Wolves will look to rebound on Wednesday when they travel to The Pas, Manitoba, where they will take on the OCN Blizzard. That contest is slated to get underway at 7:30 p.m. local time.
