Communications Blackout Hits PBCN Communities

Residents of several northeast Saskatchewan communities have been forced to make do without phone, fax or e-mail service today.
A communications blackout began around 2:40 this morning, but SaskTel says it doesn’t know what caused it.
Spokesman Andy Tate says the problem appears to have originated at Jan Lake, and is also affecting the communities of Pelican Narrows, Deschambault Lake and Sandy Bay.
Tate says there was a thunderstorm in the region last night, but it remains to be seen if the storm is responsible for the outage.
Technicians were scheduled to arrive in Jan Lake over the noon hour, but Tate can’t say how long it might take them to fix the problem.
