The English River First Nation is preparing to host the National Denesuline Gathering next month in Patuanak.

Preparations are well underway for the event which also coincides with a commemoration of the Treaty 10 signing.

Coordinator Cheryl Maurice says the first three days of the meeting will deal with land issues, as well as culture and traditions.

Workshops on healing and wellness follow shortly after that, and Maurice says there will be other activities.

Maurice adds medals will also be presented to elders and chiefs by Saskatchewan’s treaty commissioner.

This year’s gathering runs from August 23rd to the 28th.
