A Montreal Lake man is due to appear in court today in relation to the armed robbery of a Prince Albert store on Thursday.

Police say the incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of 15th Street East when a male tried to leave the store without paying for merchandise.

When a security guard tried to stop him, he threatened with a knife and then fled on a bicycle.

A suspect was arrested a short time later.

The 37-year-old man has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and stealing merchandise under $5,000.

Police are not releasing his name.
