The community of La Ronge is getting a new provincial court judge.
Erin Layton has been appointed to the bench.
Layton, who has a law degree from the University of Saskatchewan, has worked as a Legal Aid lawyer in Prince Albert and La Ronge.
“She has made valuable contributions to the legal community in La Ronge and northern Saskatchewan for nearly 20 years. Her knowledge, experience and commitment to public service will enhance the judicial system in our province,” Attorney General Don Morgan said.
Layton grew up in Missinipe and graduated from Churchill High School in La Ronge.
She replaces Judge McAuley who transferred to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert and will assume the Cree Circuit Court duties.
