The Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation will soon have new signs in the community’s east, west, and south entrances.
Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation council approved the motion to move forward with the project.
The community is currently seeking proposals for the build and installation of the new signs.
Band councillor Kevin Seesequasis will be on the selection committee that will award a contract to the winning applicant on Feb. 1, 2019.
Applicants must be available for the selection process on Feb. 1 to be eligible.
“The signs represent our culture. I think that’s what this means for our community,” says Seesequasis. “They will be the first image people see our community.”
Submissions will be accepted at the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation office until Jan. 15, 2019.
The deadline to finish the project is May 31, 2019.
