The RCMP are investigating a collision that killed a 21-year-old La Loche man early this morning.

The mishap occurred at around 1:30 this morning, five kilometres south of La Loche on Highway 155.

The Mounties say the victim was lying on the southbound driving lane when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck.

There’s a chance the victim was an occupant of another vehicle that was found rolled in a ditch nearby, but RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says it’s not clear why the victim was lying on the highway.

The victim’s body has been sent to Saskatoon for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The RCMP say no charges have been laid and none are anticipated.
