Two Walk Away From Plane Crash Near La Ronge

Two northern residents are counting their blessings today after walking away from a plane crash north of La Ronge last night.

RCMP Sgt. Brad Kaeding says the male pilot and passenger took off from the La Ronge airport in a small Cessna 170 at approximately 7:30 last night.

Kaeding says minutes later, a mayday was received from the pilot prior to the crash, 8 nautical miles north of the airport.

He says the pilot and passenger managed to walk away from the wreckage, relatively unharmed.

Kaeding says the La Ronge RCMP and the Canadian Transportation Safety Board are continuing their investigations.
