The Saskatchewan Party nominee for the Athabasca constituency says he can’t believe the NDP government is thinking of getting involved in on-reserve housing.

Recently, Community Resources Minister Buckley Belanger told reporters the government was entertaining the notion on certain conditions.

However, Phil Elliott of La Loche says he’s not sure why the provincial government would attempt this.

Elliott says the government can’t even provide housing to many northerners who live off-reserve.

He also says the government also to see the problems first-hand more often.

Elliott maintains not enough provincial ministers actually make the trek to La Loche for official business.
