Another edition of the Don Allen Saskaloppet cross-country ski event is in the books.

Over 200 skiers braved the chilly elements and made the trek to La Ronge, SK to compete this past weekend.

“People had a good time and they appreciated that the event was still held,” said Dorothy Looyestein, the chairperson for the event. “We adapted the event, so some events were shorter – they started later.”

In the 38-kilometre event, Saskatoon’s Ivan English was the fastest male competitor.

Meantime, Looyestein had high praise for the volunteers who were out lending a helping hand.

“A great thank you to all of the volunteers because again, it was a cold day,” said Looyestein. “People still went out and there were no complaints from volunteers – I believe they had a good time.”

This year’s event was 36th installment of the Don Allen Saskaloppet.
