The Trudeau government and Métis National Council signed a $450 million early learning and childcare accord Wednesday morning.

The accord was signed in Ottawa.

It seeks to strengthen early learning and childcare programs for Métis children by integrating traditional culture and values.

The agreement also aims to promote employment of Métis individuals as early childhood care providers.

It was by signed by the MNC and Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos.

The accord also aims to provide better access to early learning and childhood care services to Métis children.

The agreement builds on the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework.
