More oil exploration is expected to start up north of La Loche in a few weeks time.
Patricia Beatch of Oilsands Quest says the company hopes to drill as many as 250 holes in 2006-2007. That’s a tenfold increase from the same time last year, when just 24 holes were made.
Beatch says they plan to employ as many as 140 workers this time around, and they’re hoping enough oil can be found to start up an industrial operation.
She says so far the company has explored less than two percent of its permit area.
