The SJHL’s Flin Flon Bombers want to host the National Junior “A” Championship in 2021.

The historic SJHL team has submitted a bid to host the prestigious tournament.

“We have a lot to offer,” said Flin Flon Bombers President Travis Rideout in a news release. “We have a historic arena, a great team, coaching staff and a community that is filled with great volunteers and sponsors.”

The Bombers hosted the National Junior “A” Championship in 2001. Back then, the tournament was known as the RBC Cup.

“That tournament has had lasting effects on this town,” said Rideout in a news release. “At that time, it became the benchmark for the tournaments since then. It was both a success on the ice and a financial success, we feel that this can be mirrored in 2021.”

Flin Flon is not the only SJHL team competing for the right to host the event in 2021. The Estevan Bruins have also submitted a bid.

This year’s National Junior “A” Championship is taking place in Brooks, AB.
