For the second time in franchise history, the Prince Albert Raiders are WHL champions.
The Raiders slipped past the Vancouver Giants 3-2 in overtime Monday night at the Art Hauser Centre to capture the Ed Chynoweth Cup in game seven.
Dante Hannoun found the back of the net 18:25 into the extra session, while Noah Gregor had the other two goals for Prince Albert.
Ian Scott made 24 saves for the win and David Tendeck stopped 37 shots in a losing cause. Scott was named WHL playoff MVP.
Meantime, the Raiders will now get set for the Memorial Cup in Halifax, NS. Prince Albert opens the tournament on Friday night against the Halifax Mooseheads.
Friday’s game is slated to get underway at 5 p.m.
