An economic development officer in Buffalo Narrows says communities as far south as Prince Albert should be readying themselves for the completion of the road link to Fort McMurray.

Doug Eddy says Saskatchewan communities of all sizes everywhere will be impacted by the new economic corridor once it’s open.

Speaking yesterday to the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce, Eddy noted upgrades to sewers, roads and water are a must for virtually everyone.

Eddy hopes to raise as much awareness about the impact the road link will bring.

He says he isn’t worried bigger centres like Prince Albert will snap away big contracts from northern players. His hope is that businesses in the larger centres decided to set up shop in some smaller northern communities that will be closest to the road link.
