RCMP Support Gunshot And Stab Wounds Reporting Law

A bill that would compel health workers to report gunshot and stab wounds to police is getting the thumbs up from one northern officer.
Staff Sergeant Kirk Munro of the La Ronge RCMP detachment says he sees merit to the idea, which was proposed this week in the Provincial Legislature.
Munro says there are different reasons why people sometimes don’t want their injuries to be known, which could include fear of gang and organized crime back lash.
Munro says issues associated with the privacy act have also kept doctors and nurses from reporting injuries to them in the past.
