At the 2019 SJHL Bantam Draft in Nipawin, the La Ronge Ice Wolves ended up selecting five players.
With the 25th overall pick in the third round, the Ice Wolves drafted defenceman Tre Fouquette from Warman.
“I think I’m like a two-way defenceman,” said Fouquette. “I’m fast, a good skater, I have a good hard shot and I’m smart.”
During the 2018-19 season, Fouquette tallied 21 points in 27 games with the Warman Wildcats Bantam AA team. He says he was following the draft on his phone when he heard the news that he was taken by La Ronge.
The 15-year-old had positive things to say when asked what he knows about the SJHL and the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
“La Ronge is really good,” said Fouquette. “They have really good coaches, it’s a very good league and it’s good for schooling.”
Meantime, Fouquette was also selected 74th overall in the WHL Bantam Draft by the Prince Albert Raiders.
