RCMP say the body of a canoeist who went missing in northern Saskatchewan last month has been recovered.

The 27-year-old man from Calgary went missing on June 8 while fishing on Smoothstone Lake.

His canoe was later found submerged in the middle of the lake.

RCMP say the man’s body was recovered along the local shoreline on Sunday.

Search and rescue teams from Big River, Meadow Lake and Green Lake participated in the search effort.
