The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations Chief Bobby Cameron wants two comedians banned from ever performing at Country Thunder Saskatchewan for alleged racial comments.
The FSIN asserts that a complaint was logged against duo Williams & Ree for allegedly saying “I’m sweating more than an Indian on rent day” during an on-air performance over the weekend.
“We are calling on the Country Thunder to banish these comedians for their continued racist comments towards First Nations people. They disrespected First Nations people during the Humboldt Broncos benefit concert and it’s a disgrace that they continue to use the same racist act,” Cameron stated.
“There are many comedians that can host a show like Craven without being racist or disrespectful towards someone’s culture. We are calling on Country Thunder to utilize those talented individuals and stop the perpetuation of racist attitudes and stereotypes at their music festivals.”
Cameron defended his constituents saying they pay their bills on time.
“Many of First Nations people pay their taxes and bills on time. Thousands of First Nations people have their own mortgages, just like thousands of Saskatchewan residents. This is an embarrassment to Country Thunder, the entertainers and First Nations people.”
