Bear Creek Celebrates Opening of First School

The northern community of Bear Creek officially opened its new elementary school today.

The school provides education for students from kindergarten to grade 9 in the Bear Creek area.

There are 12 students currently taking classes in the new school.

Up until this year, the students in Bear Creek had to take their schooling outside the community.

Northern Affairs Minister Buckley Belanger took part in today’s celebration.

He was also on hand for the official opening of Bear Creek’s new, 700-thousand-dollar water treatment plant.
