Manslaughter Case Headed to Sentencing Circle

Two northern residents have pleaded guilty to manslaugter in a pair of unrelated cases.
In Prince Albert Provincial Court yesterday, 41-year-old Linda Peekeekoot pleaded guilty to causing the death of 53-year-old Wallace Little.
She had originally been charged with second-degree murder.
Little’s body was found on the Ahtahkakoop reserve in late February.
Peekeekoot will be sentenced on February 12th before a sentencing circle in Ahtahkakoop.
Meantime, a man accused of killing his wife in Dillon has also pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
53-year-old Paul Montgrand was also facing a charge of second-degree murder for the death of Carol Riviere.
Police discovered her body outside a school on the Buffalo River Dene Nation in February.
Yesterday in Meadow Lake Provincial Court, Montgrand pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He will remain in custody until his sentencing on December 5th.
