The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is once again calling on the Saskatchewan government to end the controversial practice of birth alerts.
The FSIN says birth alerts are primarily used against vulnerable, marginalized and often First Nations women.
The organization says the practice unfairly targets Indigenous women and is used to aid government agencies in separating children from their families.
The final report of the national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls recommends birth alerts be terminated.
The B.C. government announced earlier in the week it is ending the practice.
