A Prince Albert start-up bus company is attempting to fill the void left behind when the publicly owned Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) shut down in 2017.
Aurora Charter Service is operating between La Ronge, Prince Albert and Saskatoon.
“The biggest concern was medical appointments and dialysis. With all the research that I’ve done even around Prince Albert and a little bit in Saskatoon, there was a lot of questions asked will you be going to La Ronge,” asked owner Victor Hoosein? “I didn’t realize it was such a great need. So, we started looking into La Ronge and we said no there is a need for it, so we included La Ronge.”
Hoosein is operating a new 15-seat passenger van, but it is not filled to capacity, as approximately 10 seats are sold, with the rest being used for luggage and parcels.
Bus service is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from La Ronge and Tuesday and Thursday to La Ronge.
Ticket prices from, La Ronge to Saskatoon are $65 and from Prince Albert to La Ronge $50.
Hoosein says he wants to expand service west to Big River and North Battleford and purchase an enclosed trailer for parcel delivery service.
