A new partnership between the Saskatchewan Communications Network and OmniGlobe Networks in Montreal will soon allow remote northern Saskatchewan communities to access the Internet through a new satellite-based wireless broadband service.

SCN Director of Technology David Stanchuk says this new wireless satellite feed will be especially useful for those remote northern communities who could not receive Internet service from a cable or telephone company.

Stanchuk says this initiative will provide tangible benefits to these communities from a business, health and educational standpoint.

He says SCN and OmniGlobe are currently working on demonstration projects to offer communities.

Anyone interested in the technology is urged to contact SCN for more information.
