Sucker River golfer Dade Bernatchez is back in northern Saskatchewan after taking part in the 2019 MJT Boston Pizza National Championship in Florida.
Bernatchez finished in 10th place in the peewee division after carding rounds of 97, 98, and 100. He says the course provided a few challenges.
“It was a really good experience, I had lots of fun,” said Bernatchez. “The bunkers were so tough. On hole nine, I counted 17 bunkers on that one hole. It’s a par four, so that’s lots of bunkers for a par four. On hole 18, there was at least 10 or 11 bunkers.”
In addition to hitting the links, Bernatchez was also able to do some sightseeing.
“I went to Legoland, I went to Gatorland and I went to Crocodileland,” said Bernatchez. “I went to Disney World on Monday, so it was awesome.”
Bernatchez won a few events this year and also took home a silver medal in a team event at the Tony Cote First Nations Summer Games.
