An upcoming by-election for the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation’s urban seat has been cancelled, at least for the moment.
Election officer Charles Whitecap confirmed this morning that the by-election, that had been scheduled for Nov. 28, will not take place.
According to the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Members Facebook Group, Clarisse Lecoq has applied for a judicial review of a previous PBCN electoral appeal tribunal decision, which nullified the results of an August by-election.
Lecoq was elected to the position of urban councillor in the August by-election.
Had the November by-election gone ahead, it would have been the third by-election for the urban seat in less than two years.
