Lac La Ronge Indian Band teams enjoyed a lot of success at the 2019 FSIN Youth Volleyball Championships.
The U16 female team won gold, the U18 female club took home silver and the U18 male squad finished in fourth.
Percy Mirasty was the coach of the U16 female club.
“We started off quick both games, so we had really good starts,” said Mirasty. “The girls served real well and our hitting finally came together. We ended up winning quite easily.”
Mirasty also says the competition level was stiff.
“After high school is over, they start playing club ball, so they start picking club teams,” said Mirasty. “We had a girl on one of the club teams playing with us, so we had some strong girls on our team.”
The championships took place in Prince Albert, with over 80 teams competing in seven different divisions.
