Broomball enthusiasts will be taking their talents to northern Saskatchewan this weekend.

The JRMCC on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band will play host to the fourth annual Ann Venne mixed tournament Sunday.

“It’s one of the main events here in La Ronge broomball-wise,” said Leroy Venne, who is the organizer of the tournament. “It’s a mixed division (tournament). So, this year, we’re thinking it might be a little bigger than last year.”

Venne says broomball is a sport that continues to grow in northern Saskatchewan.

“The amount of people coming out to play – it’s amazing,” said Venne. “My team in fact, I got maybe about six or seven guys that never played and they are wanting to learn, and they want to play. It’s nice to see around here.”

The tournament gets underway at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the JRMCC.
