In the wake of an outbreak of COVID-19, the northern community of La Loche is implementing a new curfew.
Residents can face fines of up to $100 for a first offence, and $150 for each subsequent infraction, if out between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The restrictions are outlined in a letter from Mayor Robert St. Pierre to residents as part of an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.
La Loche has four confirmed cases of COVID-19.
It is believed the virus may have been transmitted to the community from an oilsands facility near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The curfew bylaw was put in effect Friday.
