The Saskatchewan Health Authority said the COVID-19 outbreak in La Loche is under control.
Five people including one long-term care resident and a staff member tested positive last week.
Dr. Rim Zayed, Northern Medical Health Officer said measures are being implemented at that facility, including monitoring patient symptoms and staff conditions.
Zayed said the infected patient has been isolated, while the staff member is recouping at home.
Contact tracing and testing ramped up, as health officials determined the transmission is linked to northern Alberta.
Zayed explained that tracing will see if new coronavirus cases are identified. Nearly two dozen people were tested recently, including patients at that facility.
Zayed said that just because this situation is under control, doesn’t mean that new cases won’t arise in La Loche.
Non-essential travel is advised against and a nightly curfew is now in place in La Loche.
