The Northern community of Wollaston Lake is in mourning following the drowning of two youth Monday.
Police said late Monday night they received a report that two boys aged 14 and 16 and an 18-year-old man had taken a canoe from the barge dock and tried to cross Welcome Bay to the T-dock.
The canoe flipped during the trip, and all three people fell into the water.
The 14-year-old managed to swim to shore safely. Weather conditions at the time were windy and about 5 degrees Celsius.
Within minutes of the incident being reported, several community members and the Canadian Rangers, used several boats to search for the two missing males.
Early Tuesday morning the bodies of the 16 and 18-year-old were discovered. RCMP are not releasing the names and next of kin have been notified.
