The hockey season might be paused, but the La Ronge Ice Wolves have been busy.
The Ice Wolves have inked local product Cobe Delaney to a letter of intent. The 2003-born forward has played for the Warman Wildcats and the Beardy’s Blackhawks in the U18 AAA ranks.
“I’ve been watching the Wolves like my whole life, ever since I was a little kid,” said Delaney. “It just kind of feels awesome to be knowing that I’ll hopefully be playing with them next season if I really work hard at it.”
In seven games this season with Warman, Delaney has recorded four points.
Fellow northern Saskatchewan products Parker Layton and Trever Sanderson have also signed on with the Ice Wolves.
“It’s kind of nice to know that my other buddies have signed,” said Delaney. “Knowing Parker (Layton) – I’ve played with him every season of my hockey career.”
The 2020-21 SJHL season has been on hiatus since November after tighter COVID-19 restrictions were implemented by the province.
