Members of the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan are set to go to the polls this weekend.
On Saturday, members will elect a number of officials including president, vice-president and various regional positions.
The MN-S has a new registry in place for the election and Chief Electoral Officer Gwen LaFond says members will need to bring a few pieces of identification in order to cast a ballot.
“The voters need to bring their Métis Nation citizenship card or letter from the registry indicating that they are a Métis citizen,” she said. “They need to bring their valid Saskatchewan health card and something with their name and address to show residency.”
A number of voters have already cast ballots in the election.
MN-S members could vote at their regional returning office from May 14-21.
LaFond said a number of voters also voted in the advance poll.
“The advance poll took place on May 22 at a number of locations throughout the province. During that timeframe we had just about 2,200 people come out to vote.”
LaFond said roughly 16,000 people are eligible to vote in the election.
Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
