RCMP say two people are facing charges after a vehicle chase in Meadow Lake on Friday evening.

Police say the chase began on Highway 55 after they began pursuing a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Officers say the chase ended in a parking lot in the 100 block of 9th Street West with a male suspect trying to back the vehicle into a parked RCMP cruiser.

Mounties say a female suspect exited the vehicle with what appeared to be a firearm and was arrested shortly after.

The stock of a shotgun was seized from a nearby garbage bin.

Twenty-two-year-old Kiefer Morin of Sandy Bay is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Twenty-four-year-old Madison Tinker of Saskatoon is facing charges of possession of stolen property, possession of an unauthorized firearm and resisting arrest.

Both are due to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on June 14.
