The Battlefords Tribal Council’s lawsuit against the provincial government and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations has been thrown out by a Saskatoon judge.

The BTC launched the legal action after the FSIN handed control of the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford to another tribal council earlier this summer — a move the provincial government recently backed.

The BTC’s arguments in its statement of claim were based on provisions in the Non-Profit Corporations Act.

But a Court of Queen’s Bench justice ruled earlier this week that the legislation does not apply to the FSIN.
