Two northern Saskatchewan airports are slated to receive up to $300,000 each in federal funding for upgrades.

The announcement was made Wednesday by Western Economic Diversification Canada and includes the Prince Albert and La Ronge airports as part of a $4 million Prairie funding package.

Other airports on the list include those in Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray, High Level and The Pas.

The money is being flowed through the regional air transportation initiative which helps regional airports remain economically competitive post COVID-19.

The funding may potentially be used for runway, lighting and internet improvements.
