Residents in northeast Sask. are expected to experience poor air quality until later this week.

Environment Canada said a special air quality statement is in effect for Cumberland House, Hanson Lake Road between Hwys 165 and 135, Hanson Lake Road east of Hwy 135 including Creighton, Hwy 135 including Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay and the Seabee Mine.

“Wildfire smoke is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility at times. Conditions are expected to improve by later this week,” said the advisory. “Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour.”

It’s advised that people reduce their exposure to the smoke, which could adversely impact their health.
