Province Revokes Outfitter’s Privileges On Lake

A northern outfitting camp has been permanently suspended from fishing on Trout Lake.
Sportsman’s Lodge was recently convicted in court for breaking rules surrounding fishing allocations in the area.
Saskatchewan Environment spokesman Dave Harvey admits it’s a heavy penalty that isn’t often handed out, but he says the department decided to break new ground in this case because Sportsman’s Lodge is a repeat offender.
Harvey notes the outfitting camp had a window of opportunity to appeal the suspension, but chose not to.
Last month, Sportsman’s Lodge was fined $35,100 for the offences — the highest fine levied for sort of activity.
