The Lac La Ronge Indian Band has implemented a new policy that will require everyone entering certain Band facilities to show they are vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Band issued a statement outlining the new mandate Sept. 20, which is when the policy took effect.
The mandate includes the Keethanow Bingo Hall and any other non-commercial large indoor event facility owned, operated or leased by the Band, where people are meeting indoors for more than 15 minutes.
It also includes Band offices, and requires all workers and visitors, including contract workers and couriers, to show proof of vaccination before entry.
Those under the age of 12 are exempt.
LLRIB facilities used for wakes and funerals, the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre and other Lac La Ronge Indian Band community halls are also exempt.
According to the Band’s statement, the policy comes as the Band encourages members to get vaccinated against the virus.
