Robert Merasty served one term as an FSIN vice-chief. He has also served as the chief of Flying Dust First Nation.

The election will also see every other vice-chief position filled with 11 people putting forward their names for the 4 spots.

Office of the Second Vice Chief: Dustin Fiddler, Edward Dutch Lerat

Office of the Third Vice Chief: Michael Linklater, Alyson Bear, Darrin Morin

Office of the Fourth Vice Chief: Heather Bear, Pamela Whitehawk, Fenton Favel, Curtis Standing

Chris Merasty, from La Ronge and founder of the support group Men of the North, had previously announced his intention to run for the Office of the Fourth Vice Chief.  However, Merasty had to withdraw his name for this election but told MBC News he plans on running in the next election.

The FSIN election is on October 28 in Saskatoon.
