A former high-ranking Metis politician will head to trial next fall.

A pre-trial hearing took place yesterday for Ralph Kennedy, the former provincial secretary of Metis Nation – Saskatchewan.

He was charged with forgery in the wake of the controversial 2004 MNS election.

So far, six other people have been found guilty of wrongdoing in connection with the vote.

Charges have been stayed against two others, while another individual charged in the affair — former area director Henry Cummings — was found not guilty of doing anything.

Kennedy has elected to be tried by judge alone.

His trial is scheduled to last for seven days at Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench.
