Cameco’s uranium mine at Rabbit Lake is taking on water.

The company says it has been forced to slow down production due to unexpected water-flows in the mine.

Spokesman Lyle Krahn says the flood happened while crews were upgrading pumper-capacity on the surface. He acknowledges it’s bad timing but the mine will be all right.

He says the situation is entirely different than the one at Cigar Lake.

He adds some operations in the mine continue to go ahead at a normal pace.
