Voting delegates at the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) election assembly will have to wait a few more hours before they hear the results of Thursday’s election.
The chief electoral officer announced Thursday afternoon that polls will remain open until 6pm this evening due to technical difficulties.
The following is a statement provided by the election’s Chief Electoral Officer Myrna O’Soup-Boushie.
“The FSIN Election polling period was set for 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on October 28th 2021. Polling stations were set up to assist voters with voting online using SimplyVoting.com.
However, due to complications with incorrect email addresses and difficulty accessing emails, this has resulted in lineups at polling locations and other delays.
Therefore, the Electoral Officer is extending to the Polling period an additional four (4) hours as per section 12(k) of the FSIN Election Act.
Polling will now be closed at 6 p.m. or until further notice.
We apologize for any inconvenience.”
The election is set to select every position of the FSIN executive.
