NDP Blasts Harrison Over Emissions Statements

The environment critic for the provincial NDP is lashing out at a junior cabinet minister in the Saskatchewan Party government.
Sandra Morin says Jeremy Harrison doesn’t appear to understand the importance of his cabinet portfolio, based on some recent comments.
Morin says Harrison, who is the Legislative Secretary Responsible for Northern Resources and Oilsands, recently told a Saskatchewan newspaper he wasn’t sure if the government had set greenhouse gas reduction targets.
She says the targets were set last year and were in the Saskatchewan Party’s campaign platform.
Morin says the government has pledged to stabilize emissions by 2019, and reduce greenhouse gases by 32% from former levels by 2020.
She says that is something Harrison should know, and adds Harrison needs to do his homework before making any major moves in the oil sector.
Harrison wasn’t immediately available for comment.
