La Ronge town council will be looking for its residents’ input on a tri-community agreement.
Raised during a regular council meeting Tuesday, council passed a motion to send a survey to its community members to see their ideas on an allyship with Air Ronge and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
Mayor Colin Ratushniak explained that he and a councillor joined representatives from the other two communities to have an open conversation about their partnerships in January.
He said this was to be the initial meeting for an agreement with the working title of “Tri-community Friendship Agreement.” Ratushniak explained this agreement would increase communication between the parties and have them work together on issues concerning the region.
Council is looking to residents to give input on what they’d like that agreement to look like.
Councillor Joe Hordyski raised the issue of all parties needing to fund infrastructure in the area, like the proposed multiplex in La Ronge.
