Meadow Lake RCMP has arrested several people and is on the lookout for more after a series of violent gang-related incidents this past weekend.
RCMP say two women were seriously injured during a flurry of incidents on Friday night, which police attributed to local gang activity.
At around 8:15 pm RCMP received a report of a man banging on a door of a home in the community claiming someone was going to shoot him. According to the reports, a vehicle would arrive on the scene and force the unknown man inside the vehicle before driving off.
Shortly after another report came in about a woman seeking help from a different home in the community with what were described as serious injuries which included having three fingers cut off one hand.
Mounties say 5 minutes after this incident another woman was seeking help at a home on Flying Dust First Nation with similar injuries.
RCMP officers and local EMS responded to the scenes with the two women being transported to the hospital.
During the investigation, officers were also able to identify the suspect vehicle in the incident where the man was forced into a vehicle.
As a result of the entire investigation, RCMP has charged a total of 5 people with several charges including kidnapping and aggravated assault.
“This was a rapidly developing incident,” said S/Sgt. Ryan How, Meadow Lake RCMP Detachment Commander in a media release. “We had multiple crime scenes, two seriously injured victims, and five suspects. The assistance of the Flying Dust First Nation Security Team was critical to identifying the suspect vehicle and the initial arrests. Additionally, the Protection and Response Team provided valuable assistance in securing the crime scenes. It means a lot to know you can rely on strong partnerships during serious incidents like this and I am grateful for their assistance.”
Jerrico Lasas, Ronald Campbell, and Kayla Lasas were all arrested in relation to the incidents and made court appearances this week.
Brian Maurice and Chantal Roy were also charged, however, they have not been arrested and the RCMP has put out warrants for their arrests.
Brian Maurice is described as a 28-year-old male, 5’ 8” tall, and weighs 141 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Mounties say a picture of Brian Maurice is not available and believe he may be on the Flying Dust First Nation.
