Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant-Governor is making no apologies for giving northerners a greater opportunity to take part in a youth leadership program.
Gordon Barnhart’s office is now accepting applications for the 2008 Lieutenant-Governor’s Leadership Forum — which will run from October 13th to 24th in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw and La Ronge.
A total of 18 Grade 11 and 12 students — nine of whom reside north of Prince Albert — will be rubbing shoulders with leaders from the private and public sector, and will take part in experiences designed to strengthen their leadership potential.
Barnhart admits his office is deliberately going out of its way to make sure northern teens don’t get left out.
He says if the application process wasn’t handled this way, northern students wouldn’t have the same opportunity.
The deadline for applications is May 2nd.
