A trial began today for a man accused of killing a woman on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation.

37-year-old Rick Ermine faces one count of second-degree murder for his alleged role in an incident back in October of 2006.

It was then that officers responded to reports of a disturbance on the reserve.

When they arrived, they discovered 28-year-old Leslie Anne Longjohn suffering from head injuries.

She later died.

Ermine’s trial is taking place at Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert.
