A director with the provincial government says a new plan on how to better manage northern landfills should be ready sometime in December.

Lynn Gallagher of Saskatchewan Environment says they are giving New North $50,000 to take a look at outstanding issues connected to waste management in the North.

She says a lack of personnel and money has made it difficult to properly maintain the sites.

After a feasibility study is completed, Gallagher says the government will sit down with northern officials and determine a course of action.

Gallagher says wildlife becoming accustomed around northern dumping sites is another issue that needs to be addressed.

The inquest into the death of Kenton Carnegie determined he died from a wolf attack while out walking in the woods near Points North Landing in November 2005.
